Testimonials

Client
The food I receive is a great help to me. I am not able to drive and my mobility is limited. I do not have family around to help me. This food is delivered by the local food bank and provides me with healthy food options that I would not be able to get otherwise.

Our volunteer
I am a senior and have been volunteering since 2020 after Mary Ellen made an appeal asking for help in the warehouse.  I was hesitant at first – not knowing if my work / life skills would be useful but it turns out there are lots of different jobs and new skills can be picked up very quickly. The people I work with are great and together bring a wide variety of expertise and experience. After four years I am still surprised by the sense of satisfaction it gives knowing my time is productive, useful and worthwhile.  Working the trucks, making deliveries and mobiles I see firsthand the difference we all make helping those that need it most.

Roxane Nicolson, North Huron Community Food Share
HCFBDC has been a lifeline to the North Huron Community Food Share for many years.  The products they send weekly ensure that we have full shelves with many healthy choices for our clients experiencing food insecurities.  We appreciate that they have added additional services to three towns in our catchment area with Mobile Food Banks.  Many people in our communities rely on the food banks as their grocery store, and HCFBDC is providing services to ensure no one goes hungry in Huron County.  Their dedication, and hard work to make this all happen is an incredible testament to helping others in need.
